A 7-year-old girl was injured after being caught in a shootout in the Santa Fe city of Rosario and is hospitalized in stable condition, while four people have been detained in connection with the incident, including a 16-year-old teenager.
The incident occurred this Monday night when officers from the Motorized Police were alerted to a shooting on Génova and Cabal streets in Empalme Graneros, Rosario, where a minor was shot. Upon arriving at the scene, officers spoke with Agustín Brandon, the girl's uncle, who stated that he was inside his home when he heard gunshots and, upon going out, found his niece injured, so her mother took her to the Children's Hospital Zona Norte in a private car.
At the scene, an analysis was conducted, where nine spent 9mm casings were found on the roadway, according to the police report accessed by the Noticias Argentinas news agency. While the investigations continued, personnel from the Radioelectric Command conducted a patrol to find the suspects. On San Cayetano and Cabal streets, officers observed two men on a high-displacement motorcycle who fled through alleys, and one of them, who had a double arrest warrant for robbery, entered a property and fled through the back, but was finally detained. A few meters away, officers apprehended the man believed to be the author of the shooting that injured the victim, and minutes later, following a raid, a woman and another individual were also arrested.
During the operation, nine spent 9mm casings; a 9mm Bersa Tpr9c pistol with suppressed serial number, with a magazine loaded with a 9mm cartridge; a 16-gauge double-barreled Centauro shotgun; an unmarked 12-gauge double-barreled shotgun with six AT N°12 cartridges; and a motorcycle were seized.
The detainees were identified as B. Abigail Ludmila, 20; B. Aníbal Jorge, 51; P. Dylan Maximiliano, 16; and A. Emanuel Mauricio, 22.
Girl's health status
The report highlights that the minor was taken by her mother to the Children's Hospital Zona Norte with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and after initial studies, it was confirmed that she is stable.
"Imaging studies were performed, which did not show injuries to organs in the abdominal cavity," and she remains admitted to the Intensive Care Unit for greater evolutionary control, pain management, and antibiotics.
"During the morning, she will continue to be under follow-up and care from the hospital's interdisciplinary team," they detailed.
